Cosmetic Surgery In Thailand

Thailand is an exotic vacation destination that is also one of the most frequently chosen locations for cosmetic surgery in the world. The Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok for example, was featured on the US TV show “60 Minutes” as an example of quality medical care for those combining cosmetic surgery with a travel holiday. The Bumrungrad hospital, which performs all kinds of Thai cosmetic surgeries, is a luxurious place that claims to have more foreign patients than any other hospital in the world offering cosmetic surgery.

Many Thai cosmetic surgeons have trained and / or practiced in the UK or the US. The Thai cosmetic surgery hospitals and cosmetic surgery clinics that specialize in cosmetic surgery for tourists offer specially designed cosmetic surgery recovery rooms that look more like hotel rooms than hospital rooms. The support services for the recovering cosmetic surgery patients include high levels of skilled nursing care, wonderful food, and boutiques within the hospital itself.

The most striking thing about Thailand’s cosmetic surgery is the cost. Cost comparison for common cosmetic surgical procedures in Thailand show a cost for cosmetic surgery in Thailand that is 15% to 25% of the cost for the same cosmetic surgery in the US or UK. Many of the hospitals in Thailand have state-of-the-art technology specifically for cosmetic surgery. Of course, you want more than a glossy picture before you sign up for cosmetic surgery in Thailand, you need to know about your cosmetic surgeon and your cosmetic surgery accommodations. So, you should do your research.

Your Thai cosmetic surgeon should be a member of one or more of the following medical organizations established for Thailand’s cosmetic surgeons: The International College of Surgeons (Plastic or Cosmetic Surgery), The Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand (Plastic Surgery or Cosmetic Surgery), The Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons of Thailand, The Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand, and the Thai Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Surgery of Thailand. You should determine if your Thai cosmetic surgeon is licensed by the Thailand Board of General Surgery and the Thailand Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Cosmetic Surgery). Ideally, you would want to find a Thai cosmetic surgeon who is also certified by the International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery. You should review your Thai cosmetic surgeon’s vitae and look for training or practice in the UK or US. Although most cosmetic surgeons in Thailand speak English as a second language, you should make sure that you can communicate effectively with the Thailand cosmetic surgeon you choose.

Thailand is a destination for resort vacations in addition to providing cost effective cosmetic surgery. You therefore may want to investigate travel packages that include not only cosmetic surgery in Thailand, but also a recuperation and rejuvenation stay at one of Thailand’s luxury resorts. Because Thailand is located in the tropics, the weather is typically warm and somewhat rainy during the southwest monsoon season from May until September, and drier from November through mid-March.
